"Help me help you help me."
--Jerry Maguire

Tara McKinney provides counseling and psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, families and groups. Her approach is warm, accepting, directive and supportive. She believes that therapy is a collaboration with clients to find new solutions to old problems and to facilitate healing from past trauma, loss or negative experiences that may be negatively affecting present relationships, behaviors, attitudes, and emotions. She helps clients move through maladaptive, unhealthy and unproductive behavior patterns and replace them with new tools for creating satisfaction and connection.

Tara is a Marriage and Family Therapist licensed through the State of California’s Board of Behavioral Science (MFC 44562) with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University.   She is also a Department of Transportation Substance Abuse Professional.  Her training includes over 3000 supervised hours of psychotherapy, extensive work in a residential drug and alcohol recovery program and several trainings, seminars and conferences on addiction recovery, interventions, and 12-step facilitation, anxiety and depression treatment, trauma counseling, relationship building and improving intimacy and self-esteem.
